The club meets every Tuesday morning at the Cairns RSL for social activities which might be just having a chat or a game of cards. There is also a special discount price for the buffet lunch of only $7.50. We aim to make outings to local places of interest on the last Tuesday of each month. Details of the most recent bus trip are shown below: |

Day Club Trip to Mareeba 25 March 2008 .The RSL day club had its first bus trip on Tuesday 25 th March. twenty one day club members including Stan Carswell the bus driver left the Cairns RSL at 10am. We headed up the hill to Mareeba. Our first stop was the Mareeba Museum where we were treated with many stories on the history of Mareeba from the Museum staff. We left the Museum and arrived at the Mareeba RSL for lunch. At the Mareeba RSL we were greeted by Les Trevillion from Mareeba RSL. He arranged a discounted meal for us and we dined with some members of the Mareeba RSL. Many thanks to Les and the staff of the Mareeba RSL who put on an excellent meal at a very reasonable price. After lunch we drove to the Rocky Creek Memorial site. Day club members enjoyed a walk among the many memorials including the new Memorial Wall. Roy Hartman and members of the RAAF association were surprised by the growth of the pine trees (from the original pine at Lone Pine in Gallipoli) which they had planted last August, the trees are now nearly a metre high. I think we all enjoyed the trip and we are looking forward to many trips to come |
